I am thankful everyday...

that I became an Occupational Therapist.  I get to work with and learn from extraordinary children and families.  Getting to problem solve and figure out what can boost a child’s development is exciting.  Watching them learn, play and thrive is the ultimate rewarding experience ever!!

Then my life as I knew it Changed!

After getting my degree, my husband and I would have 2 of the most amazing boys! One of those boys would have a hard time coordinating his breathing when he was born.  That was just the beginning.  Over the years, he has had to work much harder to have the coordination, strength and balance that his peers seemed to just have without much though or effort.  He struggled with processing sensory information, focusing, playing and interacting with others.  He has had countless hours of working on his speech so others could understand what he was saying.

My education has been priceless!

Through the years, I used the skills that I  learned in school, work and countless continuing education hours to help my son.

How would my son be doing if I hadn’t become an Occupational Therapist?

We have struggled finding the time for more appointments on top of our already busy schedule.   Our insurance wouldn’t cover clinic Speech or Occupational Therapy (P.S. its expensive!!).  We have also worked hard to make changes to the foods we ate.  It turns out that has been a game changer!! And we had to figure out how to incorporate activities that would speed up his development into our day to day lives.

It hasn’t always been easy.

But it has been so worth it!  I have learned so much over the years.  Our whole family has become closer and we have become more understanding of each other.

Helping others do what they can to help their child has become a huge passion of mine!

Walking alongside other families and watching them learn how to help their child grow and thrive is so important to me! I believe that we can all work together to help our children.  I know that we can find ways to naturally integrate therapy into our family’s lives without sacrificing our sanity.  Learn more about me here.
